Flood Relief - Chennai & Tuticorin

Dec Floods @ Chennai & Tuticorin

“Dec 2023 was a disastrous month for Tamil Nadu with floods in first week and in the middle of the month in southern districts of Tamil Nadu” 
 
Chennai area was completely submerged in water due to rains while Tuticorin district was flooded with water and washed away with unprecedented rains and water bodies overflow. Things came to standstill when most of the houses were damaged in the flooding. Food was scarce and UCT has arranged a quick relief from near by districts to support the needy - Near Oorani Othaveedu area close to Thermal Nagar residential areas. More than 200 + 50 families were given rice and groceries enough for a weeks' time to cope up with the difficult times.

School Infrastructure

Municipality Primary School - Thiruchengode

“Municipality run Primay school situated at Weavers colony, Tiruchengode”
 
They are in need of Printer and Tab for assessment and office statement works. 
Tab - Students weekly assement has to be done digitally. Teachers find difficult to use Mobile for this purpose for longer duration. Printer - For sending the statements on Assement details and other school related details to hgiher offices.

Annadhanam on Special Occasion UCT’s 3rd Anniversary 2023, Lunch has been served to120 inmates of Jyothi Seva Society for Blind at Bengalooru. Provisions were arranged for the special lunch, which was served with love by our Trustee Ms. Sunitha Syam. We are happy to celebrate our Anniversary with the inmates of the Seva Society and we thank them for giving us a opportunity to serve the inmates with food.
 
Our Trustee and former Secretary visited the center in person and served the lunch made for kids. The interactions with kids with different abilities were heart warming and we are happy to see the joy in their faces.

Educational Aid - School Kids

Thoothukkudi

Selected school kids studying 6th Standard to 12th Standard in and around Tuticorin (Thoothukkudi) were identified by Adaikalam Foundation for distribution of uniforms and school fee. This educational aid is being done by the foundation for the last 16 years. 

Ultimates Care Trust tool part in their efforts to share part amount of expenses towards the supply of uniforms + stitching charges. A function was organized at ADAIKALAM Foundation on 16th July 2023 at 6:00 pm, to distribute uniforms and aid to 170 such students. UCT's share is for 85 students and attended by our members.

This function was presided over by Chief Engineer Shri. J.J, Kumar, BE., Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS) and attended by TNEB & HWP retired staffs who used to sponsor for the foundation, Teachers from 15 schools and beneficiary students.

School Fee Support - Ms.Shalini,Ms.Sherin, Aathish Sakthi

Shalini S ( XII STD)  - Daughter of S.Subramani and Jayalakshmi, Studying in 12th Standard @ DHARAM HINDUJA MATRIC HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, Thiruvottiyur, Chennai. Her father is a carpenter and with sudden illness could not able to support the studies of her daughter who is in critical phase of schooling. Our Alumni friends through Mr.Manish Ramakrishnan ( 1987 ECE)  took efforts to reach out to UCT and paid the school fee for the girl. UCT thanks all the supporting friends and donors in helping us to support her studies. 

Sherin Swetha, Studying in St. Anthony's Anglo indian High school, Egmore- Chennai, referred by News7 Channel - through Anbu palam coordinator who is unable to pay for her school fee Rs.16,800 was supported by UCT by paying her fee directly to the school.

Aathish Sakthi S - student  studying in Std III and his father working as  watchman in a School on temporary basis was unable to find funds to pay his fees Rs.14,400 and UCT paid his school fee.

Hanvitha R and Nakshathra R - father Mr Rajesh Kannan was running Garment showroom near Ganapathy, CBE. Post Covid he faced a huge loss and forced to close the shop. Now working as Delivery Man with Zomato. UCT helped with their payment of Rs.18,300 and Rs.15,510 respectively.

Ms.Celsia - studying MCA -II yr. Her father is working as watchman in School. His salary is Rs.40000.00 per month but after deductions Net Salary is Rs.20000.00 due to loans he has taken. Her College fee of Rs.22,000 was paid by UCT on her behalf to the college to continue her studies.

Adithya - BCom II year - MAR GREGORIS college Mogapair west - Father's monthly salary is Rs.16,000 and they have raised funds to meet the hospital charges so requested for help. UCT paid the fee of Rs.20,000 in support to continue his studies.

Shanmugapriya - pursing her 2nd year BSC Agri in a government aided college in Pollachi. Mother, Saraswathi is a single parent , working in a apparel mill in Palani. she earns Rs 320 per day which works out to be Rs 10,000 with some extra time she does. She has managed to pay the college fee and hostel fee for the first year , for the second year she is seeking support as the education loan. UCT supports her studies by contributing Rs.45,500.

Borewell with Submersible Pump @ primary School

M.Ramachandrpuram, Sivakasi

Gandhiji Memorial Primary School - located between Sivakasi to Viruthunagar is a Government aided school with 58 Students and 6 staff members. Water from the panchayat was irregular and students were finding it difficult to manage their needs during the school hours for washing hands, tiffin boxes and rest room purposes. Request came through a teaching staff Ms. Shunmugathai who took efforts to share information regarding the requirement. UCT took steps to make borewell and installed a submersible pump at school site.

Medical Aid

Medical Support- Coimbatore / Trivandrum / Bengalooru

APRIL - Alumnus of PSG Tech - 2018 batch ECE department Mr. Gowri Prasath residing in Namakkal was injured in an accident. He was suffering from brain hemorrhage and was admitted in ICU @ Royal Care Hospital Coimbatore. Discussion with the doctors in the hospital revealed that the expense would be 70-80k per day approximate and complete medical expense would reach 10 to 15+ lacs in total. We from UCT supported him with for a payment of Rs.1,25,000 for his medical bills. Let us wish him for a speedy recovery from the injury. 

SEPTEMBER -Baby Veeshnavi- suffering from atrail Heart Septal Defect ( holes in Heart) has underwent operation. Operation charges 3 Lacs and Post operation care (ICU and daily charges is around 2 lacs Admitted in Hospital :Sree Chitra Tirunal Medical Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. UCT supported with medical expenses of Rs.30,000.

Devaraj self employed with a small grocery shop, and no medical insurance. He has three sons. First son Karthik is married and has two children and working in a building as admin, second son Gajendra, is looking for a job and third son Praveen is the first graduate in the family working for an IT consultancy and is the care taker for the patient - Massive Cardiac attack, followed by blood supply to the brain stopped, due to this he is been treated in the ICU due to his unconscious state and memory loss. UCT helped with payment of hospital fee of Rs.50,000.

Annadhanam - Tamil New Year

Food for Ashram, Coimbatore

What drives us in this 2023 Tamil New Year - Annadhanam on special occasions was envisioned way back in 2021 to serve quality food for the deserving people. Started on 14th April this is our third consecutive Annadhanam program at UNIVERSAL PEACE FOUNDATION in Coimbatore. For more than 300 persons including Kids, elderly citizen and differently abled, we extend our support by serving breakfast to them personally at their place. Thanks to all the members for support and cooperation.

Education - School Fee

Mohammaed Tariq- Chennai

Mohammed Thariq is a very meritorious child Studying VII STD, and he is actively participating in various extra-curricular activities and have won many accolades in Abacus, Tamil literature competition, ELF English programs, carom competition etc. He had also secured 1st place in State Level Abacus competition.  

Dhameem Ansari, his father is a welder who earns very low and he is the only bread winner for his family. He is not able to afford his son’s school fees for quality education with his earnings. 

To support Mohammed Thariq’s educational expenses, the Alumni Association of PSG Chennai Chapter (Mr. Manish Ramakrishnan  of '87 batch & few others pooled in to collect part amount ) and UCT took initiatives and paid the fees for his academic for the year 2023.
